Current Regulatory Notice

Temporary FMCSA Military Waiver Extension (2026)

FMCSA has issued a temporary waiver, effective July 30, 2026 through October 29, 2026, extending certain military CDL eligibility look-back periods from one year to two years. This notice is time-limited and subject to change -- always confirm current status directly with FMCSA or the Michigan Secretary of State.

Path A — Even Exchange

Certain qualified military drivers may qualify for a waiver of both the CDL knowledge test and the CDL skills test. Michigan currently participates in the FMCSA Even Exchange program.

FLO LLC does not determine waiver eligibility. Final eligibility is determined by the Michigan Secretary of State or applicable State Driver Licensing Agency.

Path B — Military Skills Test Waiver / Knowledge Preparation

If you may qualify for a skills-test waiver but still need to pass the CDL knowledge test, FLO LLC's Class A knowledge/theory preparation may help you prepare where appropriate.

Required training refers to FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) that FLO LLC reports as completed only when a student actually participates in and completes a qualifying ELDT program. Optional knowledge-test preparation is separate study material FLO LLC may offer to help you prepare for a required knowledge examination — it is never reported to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry as ELDT completion unless the applicable ELDT requirements are actually satisfied.

Path C — Standard Class A ELDT

Military and veteran applicants who do not qualify for a military exemption may enroll through FLO LLC's normal Class A ELDT theory program. All existing FLO LLC requirements — including the five-day training schedule and the 85% mastery standard — remain unchanged.

FMCSA maintains the current, authoritative list of military occupational specialties recognized under the Even Exchange program. This preliminary screening does not require identifying a specific MOS code -- see the official FMCSA Even Exchange page for the current list, or ask FLO LLC staff for help finding it.

The preliminary screening requires a free FLO LLC student account. If you don't have one yet, you can create an account or log in first — no payment is required to complete the screening.
